Southwest Elementary will nurture academic excellence and integrity by promoting a passion for learning in a safe environment.

Home to around 400 students, we build positive student-to-student, teacher-to-student, and school-to-home relationships. We are proud to serve our students with a highly qualified, reading endorsed staff. Our school strives to meet the needs of all learners through high academic and behavioral expectations. At Southwest Elementary we encourage our students to achieve their goals through Rope-ing- Reaching Our Potential Everyday. We continuously score in the top 10 schools amongst all Title 1 schools in the district. As a Title 1 school we have helpful resources for students and families. We host several family engagement nights per year to help foster the students learning at home and continue to build school-to-home relationships.

Southwest Elementary is a PBIS school. We have received many awards, most recently awarded as a Platinum Level Model School. Our teachers implement high behavior expectations, teaching appropriate behaviors through positive relationships.

We are honored to be home of a highly decorated ITV program that consistently integrates academic learning and digital production to support student achievement. Southwest Elementary promotes a passion for learning through the use of reading buddies, Reading with Erma the support dog, student-to-student and teacher-to-student mentorships. These programs build leadership skills, teach acceptance of diversity, and become productive citizens of society.
